Companies must continue to invest in supporting remote workers

Maarten Grooff Maarten Grooff

Despite their investments in IT over the past year, companies are still struggling to support remote workers. Research by Dynabook shows that more investments are needed in remote IT support, cloud-based collaboration tools and laptops.

The research shows that working remotely is still a major challenge for some. Areas such as productivity and collaboration in particular suffer from remote working. Good IT support is crucial here. Companies have therefore invested in their IT facilities and, for example, laptops, so that employees can be properly supported. However, the research shows that one third of respondents believe that there is still a lot to be gained.

Collaborate in the cloud

It is clear that investments in IT are important for supporting remote employees. Half of the respondents indicate that they want to make significant improvements in this regard. According to Dynabook, it is important that companies make well-considered purchasing decisions, especially when it comes to collaboration tools.

The companies currently looking at collaboration tools are mainly focusing on cloud- based solutions. Due to the corona pandemic, companies are paying more attention to the purchase of cloud solutions and collaboration tools than before.

Don't forget laptops

According to Dynabook, companies should also pay more attention to purchasing laptops that are suitable for hybrid working. Laptops have proven to be indispensable during the lockdown. During the pandemic, companies have started to pay more and more attention to the purchase of laptops. It just doesn't stop at purchasing new laptops. Current laptops will also have to be put to the test. Do they still meet the required specifications, do the most important applications still run properly? Now that hybrid working is not going to disappear, companies will have to properly manage employees' laptops so that they can always work in the office or at home.
