What is endpoint detection and response?

Users are often the weakest link in the field of security. Ransomware, malware and phishing are increasingly used by criminals to gain access to sensitive data and the corporate network. The term endpoint security (EDR) can refer to various security measures, but generally falls under network security. Endpoint security, also known as endpoint protection, is a means of protecting the corporate network when using external, wireless or mobile devices such as desktops, laptops, tablets and mobile phones.

Detect, Respond and Rollback

Endpoint Detection starts by detecting threats. Artificial intelligence recognizes threats and the “response” to these threats is to quarantine them. From there the risk can be removed. In addition, the endpoint is immediately excluded from the rest of the network. This does not give a hacker the opportunity to penetrate the rest of the network via the endpoint. A rollback restores the original situation before the attack.

Endpoint Detection and Response is real-time

Antivirus software alone will not keep you safe. EDR is real-time, which means continuous online and offline monitoring takes place. All collected data is stored in a central database and analyzed for suspicious activity and other issues.

Has a threat been detected? Then it will be automatically blocked. Or the end user is immediately asked to take (preventive) action.
