In terms of size, the Deventer Library belongs to the middle bracket

Deventer Library consists of a number of branches. The largest branch is located in the center of Deventer. The other branches are spread out in the neighborhoods and villages around Deventer.

Nowadays the public library is very socially involved and fulfills the function of the city living room. A library is no longer just the book market of the past. All libraries have their own course. The course taken by the Deventer Library emphasizes the social level, among other things, they are concerned with people from vulnerable groups. How do they get these people out of their homes and into the library, so that people can ultimately participate more easily in society.

Surprise bags with themes

During the lockdown, a number of libraries started working with surprise bags. A surprise bag means that you could reserve a bag full of books of a certain genre or theme. In addition to lending books, libraries also do a lot for vulnerable groups in society. For example, there is a reading club for people with language delays, meetings for people with acquired brain damage and consultation hours for people with budget problems. There are also one-on-one conversations with people with problems so that they can then be properly referred to the right agency(s).

People often come to libraries because they are an accessible organization. The library is open to everyone and you can stay there all day to read a book or newspaper, work or study and possibly drink a cup of coffee.

Good communication is the big advantage of Xafax

The big advantage of Xafax in the eyes of Jeroen, operations coordinator of the Deventer Library, is that there is always clear and good communication. If there are any problems, they are resolved quickly and adequately by Xafax.
