Ready for the next step

Thomas More has been a user of cashless payment systems for roughly 20 years. As an experienced user, they wanted an independent solution under their own management. It is the largest university of applied sciences in Flanders. Consisting of the Kempen and Mechelen/Antwerp groups. Our system has only been rolled out at the Kempen location. It has grown in a historical way. Kempen itself consists of four campuses. It is estimated that around 1,500 staff members and 30,000 students are connected to our payment system at Thomas More.

Complete NetPay solution

For the time being, NetPay is only equipped on vending machines, this is due to the current situation with Corona. Normally it is also used for catering, so that teachers and students can pay for their lunch, for example.

They also use a new service, NetPay Tickets. This service will be used for external courses. This is for external parties who rent space at the school. For example, they can get a cup of coffee or a meal by using NetPay Tickets.

Thanks to the NetPay platform, different prices can be charged for the different user groups (teachers, students, external parties and evening students).

A QR code reader is also used on the devices so that payments can be made with the smartphone. The use of smartphones is mainly seen as a solution for queuing at charging points. Thanks to the MyNetPay app, credit can be topped up on the smartphone and queues are no longer applicable.

Transaction within 3 seconds

In the canteen, a conscious decision has been made to allow students and teachers to pay with their physical card. Simply because Thomas More believes, based on the past, that this is the fastest method to make payments. The aim is to keep a transaction under 3 seconds. This is to promote flow at times when the canteen becomes very busy, for example during lunch time. Furthermore, the school does not work with cash registers where cash can be paid, this is only possible in cases of emergency. To motivate cashless payment among students, they receive a discount when they pay with their student card.
